Red:Photo // Help-Portrait - Belfast - 4th Dec 2010

On 4th December we are going to be joining with some local photographers and friends of ours at the Help-portrait Belfast Event... and we need you.

What is Help Portrait?

“Help-Portrait is a global movement of photographers using their time, gear and expertise to give back to those in need - taking pictures, printing pictures, giving pictures, but more importantly, giving hope”

Founded by Celebrity Photographer Jeremy Cowart, Help-Portrait is a community of photographers, coming together across the world to use their photography skills to give back to their local community. On or around 04 December, photographers around the world will be grabbing their cameras, finding people in need and taking their picture. When the prints are ready, the photographs get delivered. To find out more go to http://help-portrait.com/ and watch the 2010 promo video below.

What is happening at the Help-Portrait Belfast event?

Friends of ours Timothy Alexander and David Cavan have organised the 2nd Help-Portrait event for Belfast for 4th December 2010 and we are joining with them in what promises to be a great day. On site on the 4th December there will be a small studio setup, printing setup, hair and makeup and hospitality all in place to bless people who are in need (and have perhaps never had their photo taken before) with a special experience - getting their portrait professionally shot.

Why are you doing this?

As creatives and as photographers, Help-Portrait provides a way we can give back, give our time and skills to bless underprivileged individuals and families with a portrait this December, giving people dignity and hope by spending time with them and taking their portrait. We think it’s a great idea.

How is Red:Photo involved?

We are planning to take a team of you guys down to form a welcome team. Our main responsibility on the day will include welcoming people in, serving tea, coffee and snacks and generally making sure folk have a good day. If you are part of Red:Photo (and even if you aren’t) we would love you to get involved. It doesn’t have to be for the whole day, maybe just an hour or two, but we think this is going to be a great day and we’d love as many of you to be a part of it. Even if you can’t make it on the day, perhaps you would love to bake some goodies that we can serve with tea and coffee. Whatever you can do, we would love you to get on board.

What are the details?
