A touch from God

Last summer life seemed to be like living in two differents worlds at the same time. We were experiencing such an outbreak of God’s Kingdom, heaven touching earth every day, seeing healings and people set free, lives transformed and people coming to search for and then know God. It was a truly wonderful time walking in anticipation of what God was going to do next and then being even more surprised as He far exceeded our expectations. At the same time we were having difficulty in a few relationships with friends, two of our parents were ill and then in one day we lost a much wanted baby and my brother was rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack.

Full of sadness I needed to be on my own and David suggested I go for a walk. Feeling numb I could see the sun and effects of the gentle breeze as I walked onto Neatherd Moor near our home but I could feel nothing. I kept walking going over things in my head talking to God until I was in a place where no-one else could see me. I sat in the middle of a field watching it buzz with wildlife but only hearing my thoughts. I kept saying over and over “Lord I trust you. I know You are there. I know you are with me but please let me feel you.” Nothing but silence…a butterfly flew by and around me, a random thought came into my head. “Lord if you are there let the butterfly land on me and touch me as a sign.” The butterfly fluttered away.

Eventually after sitting there for some time I had nothing left to say except that I trusted Him no matter what, which surprised me as the year before if I had been in that situation I may have crumbled. So I thanked God that He had done a work in me. Exactly a week later, feeling delicate but on the mend and my brother recovering and life as busy as usual, we went for a walk to a seaside town with some visitors. My mind was occupied with getting the children across the road safely to the ice cream shop and chatting to the visitors when all of a sudden a butterfly came and landed on my hand and stayed there. As I looked down I heard Him say “I have not forgotten you. I never forget what you say. I am with you. I am always with you.” I had forgotten about that request but He hadn’t. Joy flooded over me. Thank you, my Lord, you remember the details.

This is lovely - what a precious moment. God’s timing is so worth holding out for, because He never disappoints, and always comes through at the perfect moment. This is encouraging - thanks for sharing.

Trish-I love reading your posts. I always find them so uplifting easy to relate to. They always remind me how God speaks in the busy times with family and crazy circumstances of life. This story just reminds me how faithful, loving and gentle our Heavenly Father is and how his timing is always perfect. Thanks
