IN THE CITY // Belfast Film Festival
Spring is upon us and with spring comes more fun things to do in Belfast. Starting this Thursday The Belfast Film Festival gets underway. Bringing the best of local film as well as the best of the international independent film scene to our humble QFT and Dublin Road Movie House. There are also rumours of films being shown on a boat in the Lagan. Fun!
Be sure to check out their website for a full listing of the films and workshops. There’s something for everyone. From a film about a motorcycle race that takes place every year on the Isle of Man to a based on real events film about 2 boys who didn’t make it into the band U2, to a club night dedicated to all things Buffy the Vampire Slayer. There really is something for everyone.
I plan to check out Killing Bono as it was filmed here and I like U2, mostly, and Robert Sheenan is probably going to be pretty famous some day. Gotta show some support. Honey is on my list as well. A Turkish film about a boy and his father. His father is a bee keeper and hangs bee hives high up in trees. One day the father goes on a mission and doesn’t come back. The boy goes into the woods to find him. The actual review makes it sound more interesting than I have made it out to sound…... Sound of Noise is about a bunch of anarchists breaking into banks and hospitals and then playing music….Intriguing enough eh.
Don’t miss out this year on seeing some excellent films. You can book online and there are also some free films going on as well. Take a look, enjoy some culture and support the arts.
