IN THE CITY // Boojum
Truth be told, I love mexican food. It's one of my food groups. No joke. Nachos is a staple in my diet. You can any and all kinds of vegetables on them and voila, healthy. Mind you, dousing them in guacamole and sour cream cancels out anything with nutritional value in it, but it's better than nothing right?
So when I moved to Belfast and started wandering the streets around my flat I found Boojum at the end of my street. That was the best day! They do it all in there. Burrito’s, chilli, fajita’s, taco’s, Corona, quesadilla’s, 4 kinds of salsa, beef or chicken, grilled peppers, and slushy margarita’s! It’s fast but completely fresh food.
I also enjoy the concept of having it made the way you want it. I don’t like overly spicy things, so I opt for no salsa but lots of guacamole//which is handmade and made often//. If you’re a vegetarian Boojum is perfect! I have found in other restaurants the vegetarian option lacks in taste and portion size but because of the pinto beans and rice it makes up for the lack of meat.
I’ve only had wonderful experiences there. The food is delicious and filling. It’s fresh and fast. You take away, or sit in. Boojum has a relaxed warm atmosphere, and there is now a new location down by the City Hall. So whether your strolling down Botanic with a rumbly tummy, or storming by the City Hall needing to refuel Boojum is there for you.
