IN THE CITY // Chubby Cherub
Valentines Day has come and gone, and whether you're a romantic or a cynic, you gotta eat.
Some months ago I had dinner at the Chubby Cherub. It’s a cute little Italian cafe owned by AM:PM, which should, if you’re a local ring a bell.
The atmosphere and decor was cozy and quaint, but still very chic. Every inch of the cafe was covered in cherubs, candles, flowers, grape vines, and art - sounds busy, but it’s actually quite cute. The tables, and booths were comfortable, and even though the next table is right beside you your still left feeling like you’ve got some privacy. The wait staff were terrific, and handsome. He was extremely attentive, and helpful, and had a bit of craic with us.
The menu is a collection of Italian food, from fresh baked breads, to pasta to pizza. They do daily specials to keep things interesting. The pizza’s are a great size for one, and there are lots of different ones to choose from. Even if you’re a picky eater there are some simple dishes you would be happy eating. Another major draw of the Chubby Cherub is that not only is it cute, and comfortable, but it’s also really affordable. I don’t believe that delicious food has to be expensive.
Chubby Cherub has been my go to suggestion when people ask where they should go to eat. It’s a little romantic so beware! The food is absolutely delicious, the staff are great, the mood is lovely and the price is perfect.
