Name that church

Names are important - they can tell you a lot about someone or something. So why did we choose the name Redeemer Central? What does it mean and what does it tell you about our vision? Here is a brief explanation

Here’s why the Newfrontiers Belfast Church plant will be called Redeemer Central.

1. It’s a name that captures our vision now

Our vision is to see a Christ-centered city with the Redeemer at its core. We love Belfast, we love the peace, prosperity, hope, renewal and regeneration that has come to the city in recent years. We pray and seek for much more of the same but we also realise that only Christ, the Redeemer can bring everlasting hope, eternal peace and prosperity, total regeneration and renewal. We want to model a Redeemer-centered community within the City that Loves the City. A community of people that doesn’t seek its identity from this City but seeks the City that is to come and in doing so lives out the mandate of that City now.

2. It’s a name that captures our vision then

Why the word ‘central’? We feel that God has called us to establish a City-centre church, so Redeemer Central says something of our vision but also something about our geography. In addition to this it speaks of our vision for the city and beyond: church planting. Our vision is for five churches in Belfast; Central, North, South, East and West. At the very birth of Redeemer Central we want to seed the vision amongst our people that as we set out to plant a City-centre church, we have a much wider vision for the City.
