Songwriting Night
Songwriting night is an informal get together, a think tank collective of people in Redeemer who write songs and want to write songs. This is a one-off night, an experiment, but it could lead to regular meetups. The aim is to start a discussion on music and its role in the church. And also to start writing and producing Redeemer Central music to be used at citygroup or uploaded on the Collective. This is hopefully the start of something big.
Although we love music in all settings we feel to make this a profitable time the night will have a specific focus. The focus of the night will be ‘music for the church’. This does not necessarily mean songs have to be for corporate worship settings although they are welcome - but this is a wider focus that you may think. Infact maybe the statement ‘music for the church’ is redundant. Get thinking. Get creative.
You don’t have to be able to sing or play any musical instrument to contribute. There is only one condition to the night- you have to bring something - some lyrics, a tune or a song…something.
We will listen to each others songs/ideas and then invite the group to give critique and input. We may involve some discussion during the evening regarding our thoughts on music, faith, church, worship etc.
